Afghan official: Chabahar
The Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the United Nations expressed pleasure in placing Chabahar port on the list of the US sanctions' exemptions against the Iranian people, and said the port was essential for Afghanistan's economic development.
AVA- Speaking at Afghanistan-based Security Council meeting, Mahmoud Seyqal said that Chabahar port has played a very important role in the region's economy given the access to the Indian Ocean and the entry of commercial goods to Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, Iranian news agency IRNA reported.
"Given the current state of Kabul government, we are pleased to see the Chabahar port on the list of US exemptions," he noted.
He underlined, "Afghanistan started its air corridor last year to India, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Europe, Russia, UAE, Saudi Arabia and China, and it is expected that with the help of this corridor, Afghanistan's exports will increase."
Afghanistan's permanent representative to the United Nations stated that the development and progress of the Chabahar port will play a key role in Afghanistan's economic and commercial growth, as a result of the completion of the port's projects as soon as possible.
In the same vein, India's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, also endorsed the Seyqal's statement, said New Delhi will have close ties with Kabul in implementing development projects.
