Investors should invest in electricity generation in Afghanistan/ 400,000 subscribers have been distributed electricity in the past three years
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, urged investors to invest in the country's electricity production at the inauguration ceremony of the 22.75 MW Kabul solar power plant. He also called for cooperation from countries in the region and the world in the field of clean energy production.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The inauguration ceremony of the 22.75 MW Kabul solar power project was held today (Tuesday, Oct 8) with the presence of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Economic Deputy of Prime Minister, the leadership of the Afghan Electricity Company and senior officials from the company. The electricity was held in Naghlu Dam of Sarobi district of Kabul.
"This project can help prevent climate damage," said Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, at the ceremony.
He said that such projects will gradually reduce electricity dependence on other countries, adding: While helping in the energy production sector, it will also be useful in the economic development sector.
 
The deputy prime minister's economist pointed out that the world's industrial giants have destroyed the climate, saying Afghanistan has also suffered from it.
He called on countries in the region and the international community to cooperate with Afghanistan in the field of clean energy production.
Mr. Baradar also urged domestic and foreign investors to invest in power generation projects in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Khalil-ur-Rehman Haqqani, acting head of the Ministry of Refugees and Returnees, said at the ceremony: "A good opportunity to build and develop the country has been created and now the war is over and the time has come to build.
He said that the years of war in Afghanistan have imposed many deprivations on the people of the country and added: We must support vital projects that will be useful for the progress and prosperity of the country.
 
The acting minister of refugee affairs urged Afghan businessmen and investors living abroad to return to the country and invest in the country.
He also called on neighboring countries to treat Afghan refugees well and give them time to return to Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Maulvi Azizullah Sahar, deputy minister of energy and water, said: "Sometimes some countries do not see the internal realities. We ask these countries not to distort and exaggerate the services of the Islamic Emirate.
 
Meanwhile, Abdul Bari Omar, the chief executive officer of the Afghanistan Electricity Company, said the government was committed to distributing electricity to the people of Afghanistan.
He said electricity had been distributed to 400,000 customers over the past three years, adding: "Electricity is a development issue and we ask the international community not to link it to politics.
The CEO of the Afghan Electricity Company (AEC) announced the construction of 240 MW of electricity in Kabul province in the near future, adding that the second phase of the Sarobi dam will also be built with a capacity of 200 MW.
He said that Afghanistan has a large capacity to generate electricity, adding: We need a total of 5,000 MW of electricity in the country, which now has more than 300 MW of production.
 
"I assure all businessmen and investors that investment opportunities are available in Kabul province," said Aminullah Obaid, the governor of Kabul province. Today, security is ensured in Kabul and crime is zero.
Turkish Ambassador to Afghanistan Jing Unai also expressed his satisfaction with the start of production projects in Afghanistan.
He said the security situation in Afghanistan was appropriate and announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Energy and Water for the construction of the first wind power project in the coming days.
