According to "Novosti" news agency, the press office of the Republic of Lithuania Army announced that from October 7, 10-day exercises under the title "Iron Wolf 2-2024" will be held in the eastern regions of the country with the participation of 3,200 military forces of NATO member states. Lithuania, America, Germany, Czech Republic, Norway and other countries have started.

In addition, at least 700 heavy military equipments have been used in these exercises. In the statement of the Lithuanian army, it is mentioned that these maneuvers will be carried out in order to increase the coordination of the units with each other and the use of combat support units and supply of weapons.

Alexei Chepa, the first deputy of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma, reacted to the Lithuanian army's plan to "show its capabilities" to Russia within the framework of NATO's strengthened presence in the country. This Duma official described the beginning of the maneuver of this coalition in Eastern Europe as threatening and said: "This is a threat and intimidation against our country and we must take necessary measures regarding the deployment of NATO forces." The presence of NATO near the borders of Russia and the joining of Ukraine to this alliance are serious threats to the security of our country."

This news agency also reported in September that the member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO) have started several exercises near the borders of Russia, which will continue until the end of autumn this year.

According to Tasnim, according to this report, a total of 12 exercises are planned, which will be held along the eastern flank of this pact. Among the countries that have announced their readiness to participate in these exercises, we can mention Estonia, Finland and other Eastern European countries. These maneuvers started in early September and were conducted in Germany, Greece, Slovakia, Finland and Bulgaria, and exercises are also planned in Spain, Italy and Latvia.

It should be noted that after the start of the war in Ukraine, NATO military exercises near the Russian border have increased.
