America hands over the planes of the former regime to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
A senior official of the US Ministry of Defense has announced the sale of around 50 planes of the former regime that were transferred to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan during the fall of Afghanistan. According to him, this exchange will be done to the governments of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in exchange for strengthening border security and counter-terrorism efforts related to Afghanistan.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The American newspaper Politico reported on Monday, September 19, citing two people involved in the conversation, that the United States is in talks with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to exchange nearly 50 military aircraft. who were taken from Afghanistan last year.
 
According to this report, the Islamic Emirate, as the successor of the previous Afghan regime, claims that these planes belong to them.
 
It is stated in this report; Uzbek officials insist the planes and helicopters belong to the United States and will not be returned to Afghanistan.
 
A senior Defense Department official said the United States is planning to assess whether the planes are airworthy.
 
The official said that the aircraft will be given to the governments of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in exchange for strengthening border security and counter-terrorism efforts related to Afghanistan.
 
This official added that increasing cooperation in the field of fighting terrorism could include informal access to the knowledge of people connected to networks inside Afghanistan.
 
According to one of the congressional aides mentioned in this report, Tajikistan is currently the most cooperative country in Central Asia in the field of fighting terrorism.
 
The report also states that it is unlikely that Uzbekistan or Tajikistan, given their historical ties to Russia, will allow the United States to establish more permanent bases in their countries to conduct operations beyond the Afghan horizon.
