Afghan government to release 100 Taliban prisoners today
Afghan government will release 100 Taliban prisoners today (Wednesday), sources told 1TV.
The batch will not include 15 senior commanders the group insists on their release, sources said.
This comes on the day the Taliban's political office in Qatar recalled it technical team from Kabul, accusing the government of deliberately delaying the release process.
The Afghan government, however, accused the Taliban of lack of seriousness about peace.
Under the US-Taliban deal, up to 5,000 Taliban prisoners were stipulated to be released by March 10 when intra-Afghan talks were scheduled to begin. The Taliban would free 1,000.
