Prime Minister of Pakistan on his way to Turkey/ Ankara unveils its new frigate
Pakistani sources have informed about the visit of Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of this country to Turkey. According to them, the expansion of diplomatic and economic relations and the unveiling of a new frigate built by Turkey for the Pakistan Navy are among the goals of this trip.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): This is the second official visit of "Shahbaz Sharif" to Ankara in the last five months, which takes place at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Pakistan has close relations with Turkey and the cooperation between the two countries in the political, military, security and maritime fields is always in the interest of both sides.

Islamabad and Ankara have similar positions in the field of developments in the region and the world.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, 26 Arc 1399, expressing concern and calling the US sanctions against Turkey unilateral, emphasized that Islamabad is against coercive measures against any country.

In the middle of April 1401, during the visit of the Minister of Defense of Turkey to Pakistan, a Turkish-made frigate was handed over to the Pakistan Navy, and during the current visit of Shehbaz Sharif, the third Turkish-made frigate will be unveiled in the presence of Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

There are several reasons behind the desire of Pakistan and Turkey to expand defense cooperation, which experts consider to be the most important as follows:

- Islamabad's effort to diversify its military partners in the region and its increasing tendency to expand its defense and military industries without relying on the Americans.
- Islamabad's desire to have western military technologies that Washington does not provide to Pakistan due to considerations.
- Showing Pakistan's strength against regional rivals by getting closer to Turkey, especially in the military field.
- Turkey's attempt to expand its sphere of influence in South Asia and the desire to use Pakistan's experiences in the field of nuclear technology.

Pakistan's Prime Minister's Office issued a statement today saying: Shahbaz Sharif will discuss with his Turkish counterpart the opportunities for expanding trade and economic cooperation between the two countries in addition to negotiations for the development of defense and military relations with Turkey.

Before leaving Islamabad for Ankara, Shahbaz Sharif said in a message: Pakistan-Turkey relations have entered a new phase of strategic partnership and we are determined to use mutual potentials with the aim of advancing these relations.
