CENTCOM: The leader of ISIS was killed in Syria
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement claiming that Maher al-Aqal, one of the five main leaders, was killed in a drone attack in the suburbs of Jendris, located in northwestern Syria. According to this organization; in this attack, another senior official of this terrorist group was also injured.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday, July 12, in a statement that Maher al-Aqal, one of the five main leaders of ISIS, was killed.
 
According to CENTCOM, al-Aqal has been responsible for the development of "offensive" ISIS networks outside of Iraq and Syria.
 
Gen. Joe Buccino, a spokesman for the CENTCOM Center, said: "The removal of ISIS leaders will disrupt the ability of this terrorist organization to plan and carry out more global attacks."
 
It is stated in the statement that ISIS is still a threat to America and its partners in the region; CENTCOM will maintain an adequate and stable presence in the region and will continue to deal with security threats.
 
In February of this year, US President Joe Biden announced that Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Quraishi, the leader of ISIS, was killed in an attack by American forces.
 
Al-Quraishi blew himself up on February 3, at the same time as the American forces attacked a compound in the city of Atmeh in northeastern Syria, where he lived. While he was holed up in the building with his family, he detonated a bomb during the arrival of American Special Forces.
