Afghanistan's harsh winter; Where are human rights?

13 Nov 2022 - 12:26

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Today's view: Currently, billions of dollars of Afghanistan's national capital are still in the hands of America and its allies, while the Afghan people need to receive food from aid organizations to survive. In the upcoming winter, there are no resources to protect the lives of millions of people.

The United Nations has warned that as winter approaches, millions of displaced people in Afghanistan, Ukraine and across the Middle East are at risk of "extreme hardship" and an additional $400 million is needed to support them.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has said that the upcoming winter is expected to be "much more challenging than in recent years" in the Northern Hemisphere.

Olga Sarado; The spokesperson of this institution said: "Many displaced families are struggling to heat their shelter, warm clothes and cook hot food. They have no choice but to choose between preparing food or heating."

He also said about the situation in Afghanistan: "many families displaced and affected by conflicts" will also be at risk, while the air temperature reaches minus 25 degrees Celsius in this country in winter.

According to UN statistics, about 24 million people in Afghanistan need urgent food and humanitarian aid this year.

This warning is absolutely true; because right now in the cold provinces of Afghanistan, people are suffering from poverty and cold, and with the increasing prices of fuel and food in a situation where unemployment is rampant, the lives of hundreds of thousands of people are at risk in the coming winter.

Meanwhile, the West has turned humanitarian aid, like human rights, into a tool to put pressure on the "Islamic Emirate" in order to gain privileges and fulfill its illegitimate interests.

At present, billions of dollars of Afghanistan's national capital are still in the hands of America and its allies, while the people of Afghanistan need to receive food from relief organizations to survive, and the necessary resources to protect their lives for the upcoming winter. There are no millions.

Aid organizations warn every day about the pitiful conditions of the Afghan people and urge the donor countries to completely destroy the aid fields before the winter comes and the cold, frost and snow fall. The world must do something.

However, neither the great western powers nor the human rights organizations affiliated with them care or pay attention to these reports; because for America and its allies, the people of Afghanistan are subject to this sad fate and beyond this, they are not worthy and competent!

During the occupation of Afghanistan by NATO and American forces, the only thing that did not matter to the Westerners was the lives and property of the people of the country as the real owners of this land.

The so-called Western human rights organizations, which almost every day demand the reopening of girls' schools, women's right to work, and the lifting of Taliban restrictions against them, say almost nothing about the impending human disaster; Not because this matter is not within their responsibility; But only for the simple reason that America and the West do not want this case to be highlighted too much.

The West has two clear reasons for this: one is that America and its allies are responsible for this situation, and if anyone is to be found responsible and condemned, it is America and the West; therefore, it is not necessary for anyone to say anything about this or pay attention to it as a human rights issue.

The second reason is that the lives of the Afghan people are not important to the West and have never been important before.

Therefore, no matter how much aid organizations present shocking reports of the human situation in Afghanistan, this matter is not taken into account by Western governments, nor is it considered a human rights issue at the head of foundations that defend and claim human rights.

On the other hand, the instrumental use of women's rights, girls' education and pressure on the Kabul government to form a comprehensive government are things that serve the interests of the West and the Western powers and allow them to use these things to further their interests.
