Russian military bloggers have taken full control of the Voldar settlement in Donetsk, Russian military bloggers said on Wednesday.

 

Meanwhile, the governor of Ukraine's Donetsk region announced on Tuesday that Russian forces had advanced to the center of the city of Vuheldar. The city has resisted Russian attacks since the beginning of the war as a stronghold in the strategic heights of eastern Ukraine.

 

Videos shared on social media show Russian soldiers raising a flag over a bombed-out multi-storey building and placing another flag on a metal tower.

 

Other videos show flames of smoke above the ruins of the small, mining town.

 

The city has witnessed heavy fighting over the past two and a half years, and Ukrainian forces have successfully defended it against attacks by Russian armored units.

 

Meanwhile, the Russian army announced that it had liberated the village of Verkhnokamenskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic.

 

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the casualties of Ukrainian troops in the past 24 hours have reached 2,120.

 

Among the targets hit was the command center of the Ukrainian operational-tactical group "Lugansk", the Russian Defense Ministry said.
