His Russian Foreign Minister stated: "NATO is trying to gain a foothold in Transcaucasia, Central Asia, and the Asia-Pacific region and poses a threat to Russia's security."

He also addressed the increasing threats of the West against Russia and said: "The United States and England are preparing Europe for a suicidal adventure against Russia."

Speaking at the United Nations Security Council meeting, referring to the Zionist regime's attacks on Lebanon, he said: "Russia condemns Israel's actions in violating Lebanon's sovereignty."

The senior Russian diplomat also warned that "the Middle East is on the verge of a big war, which some parties are strongly interested in", referring implicitly to the tensions created by the US and the Zionist regime.
