20 Oct 2023 - 17:34

Anthony Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, while visiting the Rafah crossing, told reporters that sending food and medical aid is a matter of life and death for the people of Gaza.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who is present in this place to monitor the delivery of humanitarian aid from the Rafah crossing, called for an unconditional ceasefire for immediate relief to Gaza.

According to IRNA, the Twitter (X) page of Al Jazeera news channel quoted Guterres and wrote: conditions and conditions have been established for the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and these conditions must be dismantled to speed up the entry of these aids.

He emphasized that most of the possible volume of humanitarian aid should enter Gaza.

In an emotional tone, Guterres pointed to the area behind the Rafah crossing wall and said that more than two million people have been trapped behind these walls without the necessary equipment for nearly two weeks.

Guterres said: We definitely need these trucks (carrying humanitarian aid) to reach Ezza as soon as possible, but for this, continuous efforts must be made. Trucks should arrive every day to provide adequate support to the people of Gaza.

Guterres, who visited the Rafah crossing area two weeks after the start of the war and killed more than 4,300 Palestinians in brutal Israeli attacks, said that "UNRWA" (Relief and Employment Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East) is responsible for distributing aid. It will be in the Gaza Strip.

The official website of the United Nations also reported a few minutes ago, with the presence of Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of this organization, at the Rafah crossing, it seemed that the opening of this crossing to send humanitarian aid to Gaza was imminent.
