Kabul, Beijing Interested in Connecting Via Wakhan Route

Islamic Emirate and China are interested in connecting via the Wakhan corridor. The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) said.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The spokesman for the MoIC, Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, said connecting Afghanistan across the Wakhan will increase trade with world countries and increase national revenue.

 
“One of our dreams from the past is to connect via the Wakhan corridor with China... both sides Afghanistan and China are willing to connect via Wakhan," he said.
 
Jawad said that the corridor will connect China with Iran and Arabic nations.
 
Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) said that Silk path is the short trade path between Afghanistan and regional countries.
 
“It is the closest path to the Gulf (states) and the closest path to the Black Sea,” said Khanjan Alokozai, a member of the ACCI.
 
“The connection of Afghanistan’s economic sector to the Wakhan corridor can improve trade between the two countries and economic improvements,” said Mir Shikib Mir, an economist.
 
The One Belt-One Road project, which originated from the idea of the Silk road, was adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 to invest in nearly 150 countries and international organizations. The One Belt One Road will cross through Afghanistan, and benefit Afghanistan with massive infrastructural projects, according to analysts.
