The president of South Africa called for an end to the war in Ukraine
Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, along with other leaders of African countries, in a meeting with Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia in St. Petersburg, called for an end to the war in Ukraine.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Yesterday (Saturday, June 17), Putin met with representatives and leaders of South Africa, Senegal, Egypt, Zambia, Uganda, Republic of Congo and Comoros.

Reuters reported: African leaders are looking to agree on a series of confidence-building measures.

According to this report, Putin has rejected key elements of the African peace plan.

Reuters wrote that Putin offered a list of reasons why he believes many of the proposals from African countries were wrong.

The leaders of the African countries met with Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the president of Ukraine, in Kiev on Friday.

Zelensky said peace talks would require Moscow to withdraw from occupied Ukrainian territory, something Russia has said is non-negotiable.

Putin reiterated his position that Ukraine and its Western allies had started the conflict long before Russia sent armed forces to the border in February last year, something they deny.

It should be mentioned that after the intensity of the conflicts in Ukraine, the President of Russia has recently said that he moved the nuclear weapon to be contained in Belarus.
