Coal mine explosion in Turkey left 28 dead
The coal mine explosion in Bartin province of Turkey has killed 28 people and left nearly 50 others missing. The cause of the explosion of this mine is the release of methane gas.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to Turkish media, the number of victims of the coal mine explosion in Bartin province of this country has reached 28 people and 49 people are still missing. It is said that the miners are trapped at a depth of 300 and 350 meters, but their condition is reported to be good.

Fakhruddin Koca, the Minister of Health of Turkey, announced that 11 miners were rescued alive and are being treated in the hospital. He also said that 28 miners lost their lives.

Turkish Interior Minister Sulaiman Soylu said that 49 miners are still missing.
On the evening of Friday, October 14, an explosion occurred in a mine in the city of Amasrae Bartin near the Black Sea.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote on his Twitter account: "Our wish is that there are no more casualties and that our miners are saved."

It is reported that Erdogan plans to visit the site of the accident on Saturday, October 15.

Interior Minister Soylu, who went to the accident site with Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmuz, while visiting the mine, said that the miners were trapped in two mines at a depth of 300 and 350 meters.

The media published pictures showing hundreds of miners' relatives at the entrance of the mine, many of them crying.

According to local authorities, more than 70 rescuers managed to penetrate the mine to a depth of 250 meters. However, it is not clear whether they will be able to extend further to trapped miners.

Now, most of the miners are reported to be fine, but some of them are seriously injured.

Turkey's Minister of Energy, Fatih Donmuz, said that according to preliminary findings, the explosion in the mine occurred due to the ignition of methane gas.

Turkey's Emergency Response Center (Afad) initially stated that a faulty transformer caused the explosion. Afad later retracted this claim, saying that the mine had ignited the methane gas for unknown reasons.

The Turkish Mineworkers' Union has stated that the cause of this accident was the explosion caused by the accumulation of methane gas in the coal mine. According to the estimates of this union, around 100 people were working in the mine at the time of the explosion.

A miner who was able to get out of the mine alone told the Turkish Anatolia news agency: I don't know what happened. There was a sudden pressure and I could not see anything.

While starting an official investigation, the local governor of this area has said that this incident is considered an accident.

In May 2014, Turkey also experienced the worst mining accident in its history. At that time, 301 miners died in a mining accident in Soma in the west of this country. This tragedy had caused protests against the government of Erdogan, the prime minister at the time. Five mining officials were also sentenced to long prison terms, including 22 years and six months.
