Tajikistan has stopped the work of Casa 1-Hazar power project in Afghanistan

According to the head of the power project office of Tajikistan, due to the security situation in Afghanistan, this country has stopped the work of the Casa 1-Hazar power project in Afghanistan for the time being.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Faiz Ali Samiov, head of Tajikistan's electricity project office, told Reuters that work on this project, which was supposed to be completed next year, is ongoing in three other countries, except for Afghanistan.
 
Mr. Samiov said: "We hope that contacts will be established with the Afghan side and ways of implementing this project will be investigated."
 
Casa 1000 project was opened in 2016 with the presence of senior officials from Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan.
 
This project will transfer electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan through Afghanistan.
 
Casa 1000 is one of the largest electricity transmission projects from Central Asia to South Asia.
 
This project is 1250 km long and passes through the territory of Afghanistan.
 
The cost of this project is estimated at one billion and 17 million dollars, which will be paid by the World Bank, the Asian Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the United States and the United Kingdom.
