Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the idea of creating a common commercial corridor with China
Officials of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan discussed how to create a joint transport corridor with China.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The press office of Uzbekistan Railways Department said that the representatives of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan discussed how to create a joint transport corridor with China.

According to this department, if this corridor is established, the capacity of transporting commercial goods from China to Afghanistan will increase several times.

It is said that about how to create a joint transport corridor with China, Bakht al-Rahman Sharaf, the head of the Afghanistan Railway Department, Azmat Sakhiov, the head of the Kyrgyzstan Railway, and Hasanuddin Hashilov, the head of the Uzbekistan Railways, have discussed through video conference.

In this meeting, a Chinese logistics company called Wakhan Kruidor was also invited.

The statement of the Railway Administration of Uzbekistan states: The parties discussed the organization of the new corridor of China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan and the creation of mutually beneficial conditions for the movement of goods through this corridor and most importantly the introduction of competitive tariffs.

The Railway Administration of Uzbekistan added that it is planned that commercial cargoes from Kashgar province of China will reach Osh region of Kyrgyzstan by road and then cross the territory of Uzbekistan by rail and be transferred to Afghanistan.

It has been said that if this multimodal transportation corridor is activated, the traffic of goods from China to Afghanistan can increase from 3,500 containers per year to 60,000 containers per year.

This is despite the fact that some time ago the authorities of Uzbekistan announced their readiness to build a railway line between Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
