Moqtada Sadr demanded the dissolution of the parliament

5 Aug 2022 - 20:56

After the protests of the supporters of the Sadr movement in the streets of Baghdad in the last few days, Moqtada Sadr demanded the dissolution of the parliament and the holding of early elections in Iraq.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to ISNA, Moqtada Sadr, the leader of Iraq's Sadr movement, called for the dissolution of the Iraqi parliament and early elections in a television interview on Wednesday night (August 3).

He said that he is ready to testify in the way of reforms.

Sadr clarified that he was not satisfied with bloodshed and his protest was not a power struggle.

The leader of Iraq's Sadr Movement added: People from all the ruling class, including the people who are in the Sadr movement, are heartbroken; I'm sure people are angry with everyone, even some of Sadr's current.

He emphasized that he is not looking for power and personal gain, but wants reforms in Iraq.

Moqtada Sadr has admitted that there are corrupt people in his party (Jarian Sadr) and he will never exclude them.

Sadr added that the way to save Iraq is early elections after the dissolution of the parliament, in which there will be no news of old faces.

This is despite the fact that after the coordination of Shia movements in Iraq to introduce Mohammad al-Sudani as the prime minister, Muqtada Sadr's supporters took to the streets and protested against this decision.
