Allocation of $ 150 million to Afghanistan by the World Bank
The World Bank has allocated $ 150 million to support Afghanistan, according to officials from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. It is said that this budget will be used to increase wheat production and farmers' access to water resources.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA), The World Bank will issue a statement on Monday (June 13th) saying that the World Bank will provide $ 150 million to increase food production such as wheat and Afghan farmers' access to water resources.

Concerned about the escalation of hunger in Afghanistan after the Ukraine war, the organization said that one of the goals of the project is to increase wheat production, which will benefit more than 2 million people by November 2023.

Also, in this project, the problem of access to water for irrigation and its optimal use and improving the quality of farm soil will be addressed.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations says half of Afghanistan's population is starving. Now, with rising food prices, especially wheat, the access to food in Afghanistan is likely to deteriorate further due to the Ukraine war.

Under the project, the World Bank says 1.9 million people will benefit financially from working on projects to rehabilitate rural irrigation facilities.
