Fatal floods kill 47 in Afghanistan in past weeks

Afghan authorities have said that the fatal floods that hit Afghanistan have left 47 people dead with hundreds of homes partially and fully damaged.


Ahmad Tamim Azimi, spokesman for the ministry of state in natural disaster management said that six people have recently died in floods flawed in several parts of eastern Kunar. He said at least 600 homes have been partially and 600 others fully collapsed as the fatal flood hit across Afghanistan in the past month.
Over 5,000 families have been affected by floods and struggling with several challenges. The essential commodities have been provided to the flood affected families, according to him. 
About seven million people are believed to be affected by flood, he said, adding that around 25 percent of them in a sever endangered situation in Afghanistan. Every spring in Afghanistan is followed by fatal floods that claim the life of tens of people and inflicts damages to hundreds of homes.
The flood mostly flaws in eastern and northern Afghanistan. The residents of the flood affected areas have blamed the government for not making enough efforts to overcome the challenges posed due to heavy flashes.
