Children of the poor families paying the price for corruption: Ghani

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani says the government is committed to root out corruption and the campaign in this regard will continue.


AVA- Speaking during a gathering to mark the international day of anti-corruption, President Ghani said it is not only the work of the government to fight corruption, emphasizing that the people, media, civil society, religious scholars, and all sects of the country including women should contribute and play a role.
President Ghani further added that the children of the poor families are paying the price for corruption as he pointed towards Kankoor (University entrance tests), calling it a clear example of corruption.
However, President Ghani said the National Unity Government has incorporated major reforms in the process.
The Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish also shared information regarding the government’s efforts in the fight against corruption and modifications in the reforms and laws.
According to ARG Palace, the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan Tadamachi Yamamoto and the U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan John Bass had also participated in the gathering.
They hailed President Ghani for his commitments in the fight against corruption and said the government has a long term focus in the fight against corruption.
Calling corruption a major challenge, the UN special envoy and U.S. Ambassador thanked the government for prioritizing the fight against corruption.
