Smuggling to be curbed in all ports similar as Torkham, says Ghani
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani says smuggling will be curbed in all ports and min highways similar as Torkham as he reaffirmed government’s full support to the industry sector of the country.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the reprsentatives of the chamber of industries of the capital and provinces.
The Afghan industrialists said the domestic production in 32 sectors has reached to a level of self-sufficiency while 22 sectors are semi self-sufficient which will become fully self-sufficient with the support of the government.
They also expressed readiness for more investment in the industrial sector and hailed the government’s steps for curbing smuggling while noting that the smuggling has for first time stopped in Torkham port.
The industrialists of the country also presented their recommendations to President Ghani which include removal of the existing barriers on the way of the industries and expansion of the industrial parks.
According to the Office of the President, ARG Palace, in his turn President Ghani emphasized on the role of the industrialists in the development of domestic production and economy and said the government is fully prepared to support the industrial sector and has specific programs in this regard.
He urged the industrialists to invest in some key sectors that include solar and wind power and textiles and said the government is prepared to allocate land for the industries willing to produce equipment for the solar and wind power as well as factories for the production of the uniform for the armed forces.
Pointing towards towards the industrialists remarks regarding the prevention of smuggling in Torkham port, President Ghani said the government has stepped up efforts to curb smuggling in other ports of the country as well
