Samangan traffic accidents leave 2 dead, 7 injured

Two people were killed and seven others wounded as a result of two separate traffic accidents in northern Samangan province on Monday, an official said.


AVA- Lt. Col. Abdul Raziq, provincial traffic director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a vehicle hit a 14-year-old girl in the Larghan area of Aibak, the provincial capital, at around 6am.
He said as the girl died, the driver managed to flee the site of the accident. Efforts are on to arrest the driver, according to the official.
Separately, one individual was killed and seven others were wounded last night when two Corolla cars collided in the Hassankhel area of the city at around 8pm, he added.
Raziq said the victims of both accidents were evacuated to the Samangan Civil Hospital.
Dr. Ali Reza, a hospital official, said two of the injured were in critical condition and had been transferred to the Balkh Zonal Hospital. The rest are being treated in Aibak.
